TSA Precheck
Screening Benefits Expanding To Additional Airports By Shane Nolan |
||||
April 3, 2012 - The Transportation Security
Administration (TSA) announced new details regarding the
expansion of the TSA PreCheck
initiative. Since its launch in October 2011, more than
640,000 passengers have been screened through TSA PreCheck.
By
changing procedures for those travelers the agency knows
more about, through information they voluntarily provide
and combining that information with TSA?s multi-layered
system of aviation security, TSA can better focus
limited resources on higher-risk and unknown passengers.
TSA PreCheck
is currently operational at 11 airports and is expanding
to additional airports and airlines, as well as
additional TSA PreCheck
lanes at existing locations. Alaska Airlines, United
Airlines and US Airways will begin offering TSA PreCheck
screening benefits at select locations in the coming
months. TSA anticipates TSA PreCheck
will be operational at many of the nation?s largest
airports by the end of 2012. |
