John Gordon

A Near 30 Year Experience With TWA

John C. Gordon preceded Woodie Fountain by three years when he joined Trans World Airlines in April of 1966 as a flight engineer on the Boeing 707. During his 29-year service with the St. Louis based carrier, Captain Gordon flew the Boeing 747, Lockheed L-1011, DC-9 and McDonnell Douglas MD-80. Gordon began his flight career in the military at the age of 17 as a weather observer (1956).

Two years later he was accepted into the cadet pilot program and was commissioned in 1960. He was based in Japan, Vietnam, as well as the United States. He left active duty in 1966, hut joined the New Jersey Air National Guard the same year and Flew, until 1969. Gordon accumulated some 25,000 hours of flight time with 3,000 in the military.
