July 20, 2014 - On Thursday FedEx Corp. was
indicted in a San Francisco federal court for
delivering prescription pain pills, sedatives,
anti-anxiety drugs and other controlled
substances for illegal Internet pharmacies
(online pharmacies).
Over the years online pharmacies have become
very attractive to consumers in the United
States as consumers can save as much as 80
percent on the cost of prescription drugs using
a foreign internet pharmacy and in many case the
consumer does not need to present a prescription
from a doctor.
The problem with online pharmacies is the lack
of consumer controls that would insure the drugs
are safe. In some cases these pharmacies are
sending out counterfeit, outdated or bogus
medications as well the consumer does not truly
know the country of true origin.
